    Maniac Tourney

I'm going to start holding a tournement once a month. It will be small and just a chance to get together and have a little fun. If you have any Ideas on where you would like to have it please let me know. I have to check with the fish and game and find out all the laws and rules in order to hold the event. But I'm looking at a ten team tourney with maybe a 40 dollor entry fee per team. I think we will probely even have some parent youth events as well. This is a new thing we can do it however we want so whatever input will be helpful. If your interested sign up on the forum and let me know. The fee to enter can be whatever we want as well but I would like to keep it cheap so more can praticipate. I thinking maybe a Wiper Tourney on Willard for next month.

I think it's a good idea but $40 is a little steep for most people.

I just put one on at willard and it cost $50 for the parks permit but should have been more. If you have more than 49 people or $2000 in prizes you need a dwr permit and it takes 60 days. If you do a type 2 tourney you don't need one. If you have a live weigh-in, you need one no matter what the other stipulations are. Let me know if i can help.

I think a fun place to do one would be Mantua and E.C. and maybe even pineview.

If it feels good do it!

We can charge whatever you guys want. I definately want to keep it cheep, so everyone can afford it and lets keep it small so we don't have to worry about permits. James and I are planning on having a big one this winter and one in the summer. But for now I was thinkng we could have some small ones around here on our local waters. Brody I'm sure we can use your help I'll let you know.

If everyone could chime in and give us some kind of an Idea of a head count, then it would be easier to know how to plan. Keep in mind that this could be for the Kids as well. We will have some Maniac Lures for everyone at the get together Children included. Please post your intentions and preference of where to hold this event. Thanks James

I vote for Mantua or EC. I will have my boy(5) with me and possibly another kid and adult.

If it feels good do it!

Hi Skeeter. The tourney sounds good to me with the exception of the 16th of Agust, I have my 30 year class reunion that day. Willard works for me me but any where you decide is fine. Hope you get a weekend off so we can make it happen.

First off welcome to the Board MGB. Second it looks like I'm going to have to hold off until Sept due to my work schedule. I just can't do it in August sorry, lets try for septemember. Hopefully the Hunting season won't screw things up, to much.

I say the middle of September would probably work at East Canyon. We can go wherever you guys want, as long as it's not too far to drive. Welcome to the forum MGB!

I would like to make a suggestion. Its one that would require some planning.

But, my shoulder is shot. I cant cast anymore. I cant even lift my arm above a 45 degree angle. So, a vertical jigging or trolling event would rock.

A late october vertical jigging tourney on bear lake for macks would suit me to perfection. I happen to know that there are several maniac baits that would clean house up there for the macks. The Cut'r and the big minnow!

Otherwise, I am gonna have to cast left handed.

    Re: Maniac Tourney

I just had an idea. How about a dual purpose event?

Pineview, tiger musky and bass simultaneous?

It would have to be a photo event, so everyone would have to bring thier digital camera and a measuring tape.

Fish would have to be laid down next to the tape, and the pic would have to include an item that would be handed out at the begining of the day. Something as easy as a printed paper that said something that wouldnt be revealed until that day.

The pics could be posted here on the site and the event could be used to generate some fun on the site.

Of course the winner would have to win not only the cash, but a bag of those new laminated cut'r bugs!

But a tigerm/bass event would be fun. Interest lots of folks, its close to home. You can troll, cast, whatever. Plus, in september the crowds will be gone.

I will have to stock up on those musky killin 5" maniac minnows though.
